Job Description:

Correctional Industries is committed to maintain and expand incarcerated work training programs which develop marketable skills, instill and promote positive work ethics, and reduce the tax burden of corrections. This position supports that objective by assisting in training and supervising incarcerated individuals in the day-to-day operations of the Correctional Industries Centralized Commissary operation. This position assists with maintaining security and control over incarcerated individuals working in the operation and assists in providing skills training to incarcerated workers in accordance with CI Legislative mandate.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Ensures shipments received are correct and in good condition. Ensures outgoing shipments are properly packaged.
  • Supervises offenders and participates in the warehousing operations of a large volume warehouse in the functions of loading and unloading vehicles.
  • Provides timely delivery of orders to each living unit, and to each incarcerated individual within that particular unit.
  • Enter merchandise into TAS inventory system, fills offenders Commissary orders, investigates reported errors with the offenders orders and makes corrections when warranted. Charge and/or credit offenders accounts in TAS for their Commissary orders.
  • Opens, packs, unpacks and inspects incoming and outgoing shipments and relocates warehouse commodities as needed. Practices good inventory control procedures, record maintenance, receiving, storing and distributing goods and services.

Job Requirements:

  • Maintain regular and reliable attendance.
  • Successfully complete, within mandated timeframes, employee orientation and all other mandatory annual, in-service and other required training.
  • Complete a felony disclosure form prior to employment and submit to a criminal background check.
  • Provide physical residential address and home telephone number to the Department of Corrections.
  • Submit to drug testing in accordance with CBA and agency policy.
  • This position is included in a Union Shop.
  • Become familiar and comply with all DOC policies and procedures and Collective Bargaining Agreements as applicable.
  • Must successfully complete CORE training program.

Qualification & Experience:

  • High school graduate or equivalent.
  • Two (2) years’ experience in warehousing in which duties include shipping, receiving, or inventory management.
