Job Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the daily production of the breakfast and lunch meals by regularly assigning, checking, and instructing the work of others
  • Ability to prepare various food items per three meals a day as assigned on a daily worksheet
  • Use correct loading charts to ensure proper amounts are sent to appropriate living units
  • Cooking casseroles, roasts, vegetables, and other dishes as needed
  • Stirring kettles containing large amounts of meat, fish, and poultry, prepare and cook vegetables, fruits, soups, and cereals

Job Requirements:

  • Understanding of principles, methods, and procedures involved in a large scale food preparation and cooking operation
  • Current Food Handlers card within 14 days of hire
  • Knowledge of kitchen and dining room work, personal hygiene, sanitation, housekeeping practices, and operation of standard kitchen appliances and equipment
  • Ability to learn routines involved in preparing and serving food, follow written and oral instructions, and provide instruction to kitchen staff
  • Ability to communicate effectively with management and coworkers
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment completing multiple tasks simultaneously
  • Demonstrated safe food handling practices, sanitation, and universal safety precautions

Qualification & Experience:

  • Two years cooking experience in large scale food services OR one-year cooking experience in large scale food services experience
